Architecture...
A portfolio of work shows a finished product, but often shies away from anything temporal in nature.
But to omit the idiosyncrasies or emotional aspects of the day to day is surely to deny what makes
architecture such an individual profession? Allowing a deeper insight into the spaces that we create,
the people and activities they house, the fortunate accidents that improve a space or an oversight
which to learn from should be an appendage to this more formal body of work.

Food...
I worked weekends at the Modern Art Gallery in Edinburgh to earn my keep during university. I
wasn’t organizing displays or anything else particularly architectural, but instead was cooking
in the kitchens of the cafe. Whilst performing my duties of preparing freshly baked goods for a
long line of eager local pensioners or creating “home-cooked” meals for art-stuffed families, I
developed a pleasure for a craft that I could use everyday.

Call it a nostalgic longing for times gone by or just a hobby about a hobby, I document some
of these techniques in the hope that it would give myself, friends or family something to adapt
and improve upon in the future.
